MHC Upward Bound
MHC Upward Bound is a college prep program for 9th – 12th graders attending Asheville, Erwin, North Buncombe, Madison, Mitchell and Mountain Heritage high schools in Western North Carolina. Most students apply while in 9th or 10th grade.
The program includes:
- A 6-week residential summer program on the campus of Mars Hill College, including a week-long cultural trip.
- Weekly afterschool tutoring and academic advising.
- Opportunities to visit colleges and universities.
- Trips to museums, plays, and other cultural events.
- Fee waivers for the SAT, ACT, and college applications.

Summer Enrichment Instructors!!!!
Purpose:
The purpose of these classes is to prepare high school students for the classes they will take during the upcoming school year. The curriculum is based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Classes provide creative, experiential learning that addresses multiple intelligences.
Available positions:
English and Creative Writing Instructor, Math Instructor, Spanish I and II Instructor, Drama, Yearbook, Service Learning, Physical Education, Weight lifting, and Outdoor Education Instructors
When, where, how many hours: Summer June/July Part Time (each course: a minimum of 3 hrs/week)
Pay Rate: $15.00-$23.00 based on course
