Religious Life Committee

At Mars Hill College, there is a great diversity of faith expressions represented among students, faculty and staff. In order to best meet the diverse spiritual needs of the Mars Hill College community, the Religious Life Committee—made up of faculty, staff and student representatives—seeks to be a “sounding board” regarding religious programming on campus. The Office of the Chaplain works alongside the RLC to evaluate, fine-tune, and implement religious programming. The purpose of this programming is to provide a healthy balance of comfort and challenge for those in the MHC community who seek to root themselves more firmly in the Christian faith. Beyond seeking to meet this broad objective, the Religious Life Committee seeks to do the following:

  • Ask relevant questions regarding the efficacy of current religious programming.
  • Enable and honor a variety of religious expressions (theological persuasions, musical styles, etc.).
  • Be sensitive to the religious “pulse” of the campus so that program offerings might be relevant and timely to all the campus community.
  • Support the work of the Chaplain and offer relevant feedback regarding the Chaplain’s function on campus.
