Mars Hill College has a history of connection with local congregations
and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. MHC desires
to maintain its ecclesial connections, and assist congregations
in their work. In order to more effectively do this, MHC maintains
a Church Relations Council comprised of clergy, trustees, denominational
leaders, administrators and faculty. The purposes of the Council
are:
-
To help build bridges between Mars Hill College, a liberal
arts college in the Christian tradition, and churches that would
be receptive to and compatible with the College’s mission.
-
To identify, and be identified to, churches that can help
us clarify, elaborate, and publicize our mission.
-
To assess to the best of our ability the perception of Mars
Hill College within churches, both those receptive to the mission
and identity of MHC and those not receptive.
-
To develop a mission for doing church relations and to identify
and begin primary strategies
that would accompany
the building of a viable
network of churches
receptive to Mars Hill
College; that is, to
ask the question: “How
do we do the building
of bridges and networks
between and among the
College and churches?”
