Four major student communications media operate on the Mars Hill College campus: The Cadenza, a literary/art magazine published annually; The Laurel, a yearbook published annually; The Hilltop, the campus newspaper, published weekly.

The editors and managers of these media outlets are full-time students who recruit and organize their staffs within the policies established by the Board for Student Communications Media and with the assistance of professionally trained advisors. Organizational meetings are usually held at the beginning of the fall semester, and newcomers are invited to seek staff positions. Facilities for these media, including workrooms, a photo studio, and a sound booth, are located in Wren College Union.
