Disc Golf at Mars Hill College
Purpose
The purpose of the WNC intercollegiate league is to foster and promote the sport of disc golf in the western North Carolina region and other nearby areas by bringing colleges with disc golf teams together in an organized format. The WNC Disc Golf Association, a not for profit organization, plans to not only facilitate these tournaments but also will assist each college by appointing an experienced club member to act as a coach and liaison for the college team. Furthermore, we hope to bring together college students from around the region in a fun, exciting, and competitive nature.
Format
The sixth season of the WNC Intercollegiate Disc Golf Challenge will take place from September 2008 to April 2009 and will consist of six separate tournaments at five different locations. Each school will have the opportunity to host a tournament and are encouraged to hold some form of a social gathering including all players after the tournament has finished. Tournament formats will stay consistent throughout the whole year to encourage both elite and recreational play.

Tournament Dates and Locations

All tournaments will begin promptly at 2:00 and we recommend that players arrive one hour prior to the starting time. Directions to each of these courses can be found on our Web site at www.wncdiscgolf.com. You also can go to the college Web site and find directions to the different colleges.
Scoring of Individual Tournaments
At the end of each tournament, individual player’s points will be added up with the points of their teammates to get the total team score. The team that accumulates the most points wins that individual tournament.
The winning college from each tournament will have earned the right to return to their school with the WNC Intercollegiate Disc Golf Challenge Trophy. This trophy is a mini-basket that will have tags dangling from the chains. For each tournament that a team wins, they will have their name engraved on a tag and hung on the basket. The winning team is responsible for bringing the trophy to the next tournament. This trophy will be provided by and maintained through the courtesy of the WNC Disc Golf Association, the local organization that is sponsoring and facilitating the league.
Overall Champions
At the end of the season all points from each college gathered during the season will be added up to determine which school is the overall champion for the season. This team will then have the right to retain the trophy until the beginning of the next season. Furthermore, each player from that college that participated in two or more tournaments will receive a free membership to the WNC Disc Golf Association. This membership is valid for one year and provides discounts on all club merchandise, chances to win free disc golf gear, and free admission to club functions.
