If You Are Concerned About a Friend

It is difficult to see a friend in crisis or struggling with an ongoing issue such as depression, alcohol abuse, or an eating disorder. Sometimes you may only suspect that a friend needs help. You may wonder how you can be most helpful to them. Counselors at the MHC Counseling Center are available to assist you in such situations. We can discuss possible strategies for being helpful to your friend, as well as making sure you take care of yourself. We will also meet jointly with you and your friend if that seems most helpful. You don’t have to struggle alone if you are concerned about a friend.

If you are concerned about a friend who currently seems to be in imminent danger as the result of a psychological problem, click on the “Emergency Contacts” link for assistance.
