What you can expect from your Resident Assistant (RA):
To be a FRIEND.
To be a RESOURCE either by having the answers or knowing where to get them.
To be a LISTENER and then ask questions that will help clarify problems.
To be ACCEPTING of others and appreciate differences of beliefs, cultures, and lifestyles.
To hold students ACCOUNTABLE for their actions and behavior.
To CONFRONT inappropriate behavior that infringes on the rights of the community.
To provide EDUCATIONAL opportunities to discuss current issues and topics relevant to today’s world.
To provide SOCIAL opportunities to interact with other residents.

What you cannot expect from your Resident Assistant (RA):
To patrol the halls for violations- if things are too loud, it is your responsibility to ask others floor members to quiet down.
To always be on the floor-they have other obligations (like class, clubs, and friends) away from the residence hall.
To solve your problems for you-you must make your own decisions; they will listen and offer assistance if possible.
To look the other way on policy violations-you will be responsible for your actions.
To never make mistakes—we are all human.
