Room Assignment Process

ROOM ASSIGNMENTS FOR NEW STUDENTS
New Students begin the room reservation process by completing the Housing Contract and roommate information sheet provided to all new students. Room assignments and roommate matching for new students will begin in May and assignments will be mailed to students during the summer. It is strongly recommended that housing contracts be received before May 1st for priority assignment.

room assignment
Rooms for new students are awarded on a first come-first serve basis so the students who return their housing contract (with deposit) first will be given priority. Be aware that upper class students get their first choice of rooms and few, if any, first year students get to live in Bailey Mountain, Dixon-Palmer, Turner, or Brown. Most first year women live in Stroup and Edna Moore and most first year men live in Myers and Huffman. These four buildings do not have single rooms but if space is available students who request it will be allowed, at an additional cost, to have the double room as a “private” without a roommate.

FOR CURRENT STUDENTS
Room selection occurs each Spring for currently enrolled students. Employing a point system, the process rewards students with a higher class standing and involvement in Residence Life. Requests for a special building, room and/or roommate are honored if space is available. Students not currently living on campus must pay a housing deposit prior to signing up for a room. Students must pre-register for the fall semester to be eligible to reserve a room.
