Live In Requirement
Living in a residence hall at Mars Hill offers a significant contribution
to the development of each resident as he/she learns from individuals
of varied backgrounds, experiences and personal philosophies. Harmonious
living, broadened horizons, and increased human understanding are desirable
results of the residence experience. This unique opportunity is an essential
part of the college learning experience. Mars Hill believes in this
mission to the extent that we require all single first and second year
students who are not commuting from their parents’ home to live
in one of the campus residence halls.

Immediate exemptions from live-on requirement are:
-More than 60 credit hours (Jr or Sr status)
-21 years of age or older
-Married or a single parent
-Living at home with immediate family (parents)
-Veterans of more than 180 consecutive days of active military duty
If you do not meet one of these immediate exemptions and you would like
to be released from the housing requirement, you will need to fill out
a Live-on/Meal Plan waiver form . You will need to explain any
special circumstances that necessitate why you should be exempt from
the live-on requirement. This request will be sent to a committee for
review and a response will be issued within two weeks. Students not
released from the live-on requirement will be charged for housing regardless
of whether they live on campus or not.
