Fall Festival for Senior Adults Planned for October 21
Dr. Jim Henry, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention will be the featured speaker for the Fall Festival for Senior Adults, to be held in Broyhill Chapel on the campus of Mars Hill College Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 9 am until 2:30 pm. The Fall Festival is presented by Mars Hill College in cooperation with the North Carolina Baptist Foundation.
Henry is a much sought-after speaker and author who has preached at the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and several Southern Baptist Convention Pastor’s Conferences. He has held many positions of leadership including President of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1994–1996 and Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Orlando from 1977 to 2006.
Prior to Dr. Henry’s address, participants will have the opportunity to glean information aimed especially at senior adults through three helpful informational sessions.
“Long Term Care Planning: What are the Options?” will be led by Attorney Jason Sutton, founder of the Elder Care Law Firm, PLLC, and staff members of the N.C. Senior Citizens Association. “Doing Right With What is Left,” will be led by Dr. Clay Warf, Rev. David Webb and Mr. Bill Overby of the N.C. Baptist Foundation. In addition, Dr. Craig Goforth, MHC Dean of Students and Instructor of Criminal Justice will lead Protecting Yourself from Scams and Schemes.
Entertainment will be provided by Mars Hill College’s18-time National Champion Bailey Mountain Cloggers, and vocal and instrumental ensembles from the Mars Hill College music department.
Cost for the Fall Festival is $10 with pre-registration prior to October 15, and $15 after that date.
Registration on the morning of the event will be 9 am in Bentley Fellowship Hall (Beside Broyhill Chapel) on the campus.
