Rep. Mark Meadows to Visit Mars Hill University
U.S. Representative Mark Meadows will visit with administrators and students on the campus of Mars Hill University on Wednesday afternoon, August 28.
The day before, on August 27, classes will begin for the first time under the banner of Mars Hill University, which officially changed its name from Mars Hill College on August 15.
According to Mars Hill University President Dan Lunsford, Meadows’ visit came in response to an invitation to him and other elected officials to tour the campus and meet with members of the administration and student leadership.
Lunsford said he hopes to give Meadows a tour of campus, introducing him to both the new and the historic buildings on the campus. He also hopes to allow time for Rep. Meadows to discuss national issues which impact private higher education with members of the campus. Issues like the Pell grant and the student loan programs are of particular importance to a private institution which serves a large number of first-generation students, Lunsford said.
“I want to express my appreciation to Congressman Meadows for coming to Mars Hill University to learn more about us, our students, the programs we offer, and our historical significance to the region,” Lunsford said. “I value his time and, especially, his interest in private higher education.”
