When the South Atlantic Conference annual report was presented by Commissioner Patrick Britz in June at the league’s annual meeting, MHC was well represented academically among its peers.

The sport of softball boasted the highest grade point average among Mars Hill athletics and led the entire conference. The Lions softball players recorded a 3.47 GPA during the 2009-10 academic year. Men’s soccer and baseball ranked second against their peers in the SAC with GPA’s of 3.0 and 2.97, respectively. The sports of football, volleyball, women’s soccer and men’s basketball placed third in their respective categories in GPA. Men’s tennis rounded out the teams for the Lions that place in the top half in the league in GPA rankings.

As a department, MHC recorded a 2.94 grade point average among South Atlantic Conference sports. The league sponsors 14 varsity intercollegiate programs.
