Cindy Frost Receives Bonner Award

Cindy FrostCindy Frost, Bonner Scholar Coordinator at Mars Hill College has received the Founder’s Award from the Bonner Foundation.

The award was announced at the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Bonner Program, June 3 at Berea College. Frost has been with the Bonner Scholar Program for 18 of the 19 years that the program has been in existence at Mars Hill College.

According to MHC president Dan Lunsford, who made the nomination for the award, Frost’s amazing organizational skills, her ability to connect with students and her passion for service have made her position much more than a job for her.

“Cindy challenges students to get out of their comfort zone, to think about the bigger social issues that their work can impact, and encourages them to take advantage of opportunities that they might not have if it were not for their Bonner Scholarship,” he said. “She has made the world a better place because of the work she has done to help these students develop their skills and find their path.”

The Bonner Foundation Founder’s Award is designed to honor people whose leadership and service have had defining roles in shaping the Bonner Program at the campuses throughout the nation where the program is in place.

The Bonner Scholars Program, funded by the Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation, provides students with financial need and a commitment to service with four-year scholarships. Mars Hill College, with its long tradition of service to the region, to the nation, and to the world, is proud to be one of only 27 colleges and universities in the country to participate in the Bonner Scholars Program.
