Housing and Supervision

Camp participants, except day campers, will be housed in air-conditioned dorms on the Mars Hill College Campus. Campers must bring their own sheets and towels from home. A pillow and blanket will be supplied. All dormitory rooms are double-occupancy. Unless you notify us on the camp registration form, camp administrators will pair each student who does not come with a roommate with someone close to their age. Housing accommodation is not available after the end of the program on Friday. Check-In will be Sunday from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm. in Moore Auditorium. Late arrivals need to call ahead and a camp counselor will be available to check them in. Check-out from the dormitory is Friday after breakfast. Meals provided begin with dinner on Sunday and end with lunch on Friday — 15 meals in all. All meals will be served in the College Dining Hall, located adjacent to the music building. The dining service offers a cafeteria-style menu with a wide variety of healthy food choices.

While staying in the dormitory, all camp students will be under the careful supervision of the Mars Hill College Summer Music Camp Staff.

Health Care

In the event that a student is ill or injured at camp, the counselors will escort that student to the Sister of Mercy Urgent Care facility for prompt, professional medical care. In cases where a student is in need of a hospital attention, a member of the music camp staff will provide immediate transportation and an escort to Mission Hospitals in downtown Asheville. Parents or guardian will be contacted immediately by the staff. Costs resulting from a doctor visit, prescription medication, x-rays, lab work or hospital treatment are the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

Recreation and Activities

The MHC Summer Music Camp will provide a range of "free time" activities for music camp students. The Health and Fitness Center features a campus swimming pool and basketball courts for volleyball during scheduled hours. All recreational venues will be under camp counselor supervision. Music camp counselors will closely supervise all activities. The health and safety of each camper is our primary concern.

A different musical activity will be planned for each evening after rehearsals end. These activities will conclude by 9pm so that commuter campers may be picked up on time.
