The Teacher Education Program at Mars Hill College has an assessment system that has been approved by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). This assessment allows for "a comprehensive and integrated set of evaluation measures that provides information for use in monitoring candidate performance and managing and improving unit operations and programs for the preparation of professional educators." In the Fall Semester of 2005, Dr. Jim Brown was named the director of assessment for the Teacher Education Unit at Mars Hill College.

The Teacher Education Unit has adopted LiveText - a standards-based, comprehensive suite of web-based tools used by faculty and students for research, assessment and program evaluation. The following assessment instruments are used to evaluate candidate performance. Most of the assessment tools are housed in LiveText and require access, while other LiveText assessment tools and forms are available to the general pubic via this webpage. If you are a teacher education major and you are planning to apply for the teacher education program or you are already admitted to the program and need to complete one or more assessments, please locate the link below.
