Library Resources
Renfro Library houses many resources
to support candidates in the Teacher Education
Program of Mars Hill College. These include
reference materials in print and in electronic
format, journals, electronic databases,
children's (K - 12) fiction and nonfiction
books, as well as a circulating collection
of resources for faculty and teacher education
candidates. This collection has been developed
and maintained in close consultation with
the faculty of the Teacher Education Program
and the Teacher Education Council, and
includes resources on both the theories
and the practice of education.
Renfro Library is located on the campus
of Mars Hill College and is open seven
days a week during fall & spring semesters,
with a reduced schedule during summers
and holidays. There is research assistance
available daily as posted (usually from
10am - 9pm). Each Teacher Education candidate
will have at least one session of research
instruction that highlights the core resources
for education research. Reference librarians
are available by appointment for in-depth
consultation for research projects.
Many of the library's electronic resources
are available for off-campus students
with a password. Renfro Library is a member
of the Mountain College Library Network
(MCLN), a 13-institution consortium that
provides quick access to periodicals and
books from each participating library.
Mars Hill College has a borrowing agreement
with UNC-A's Ramsey Library. UNC-A's borrowers
cards are available at the Research Assistance
Desk in Renfro Library. Interlibrary loan
services are available through agreements
with regional and national consortia.
For information about the Renfro Library
services and resources, visit the Research
