Waynette Wilson
Waynette knew early in High School that she wanted to
come to Mars Hill College. Being a native of Madison County
she wanted to stay close to home, family and friends while
carrying out her dream of becoming a teacher. Her career
goals were never a question to her and at Mars Hill College
she learned how to become an educator. How
did you feel about your major after the first year?
It was definitely the right choice. I really enjoyed
each class and the faculty were terrific. It was everything
I thought be and more.
What are your
favorite memories of MH?
I have lots of wonderful memories of my time at Mars
Hill College. My two best friends whom I had attended
school with since kindergarten were in a lot of classes
with me. That was terrific and not a lot of college
students can say they have been in school together since
kindergarten. But, my first student teaching position
at Weaverville Primary was probably my best memories.
I loved getting to finally be in the classroom doing
what I have always wanted to do.
How do you feel
your education has prepared you for your career?
I felt very well prepared. The Education department
at Mars Hill makes sure that you are ready before you
step across the graduation stage. The faculty are so
dedicated and love what they do. They put their hearts
and souls into their teachings.
What do you
have planned for the future?
I am going to continue teaching. I would like to go
back to school and get my Masters one day. I wish MHC
had that program!
