Alumni
Young Alumni Weekend

Classes of 1997-2012, gather to dine, catch up with friends and former professors, serve the community, and run in the Fiddlin’ 5K.
Schedule
Friday, April 12th
5-10pm
Gather at Jack of Hearts in Weaverville to network, catch up with your favorite professors, tell stories of days on The Hill with fellow alumni, and meet students who are hungry for networking experience and appetizers (appetizers courtesy of MHC).
Saturday, April 13th
Fiddlin’ 5K
Let the fiddle and banjo be the soundtrack to your run as you support the second oldest folk festival in the region. Benifitting the Bascom Lamar Lunsford “Minstrel of Appalachia” Festival and the Junior Appalachian Musicians, a local program of the Madison County Arts Council that teaches mountain traditions through music and dance education, the Fiddlin’ 5K Road Race will take off from the heart of Mars Hill College’s scenic campus.
During and after the Fiddlin’ 5K, join LifeWorks for a service project on the quad. SoleHope is a local nonprofit in Western North Carolina that works with communities in Uganda to teach a trade and support health initiatives by making shoes for children in Africa.
- Donate materials: You can bring these with you and donate at check-in. These include plastic milk cartons that have been cleaned and dried and/or old blue jeans. These are the primary materials used in the construction of shoes for this project.
- Help cut out the patterns: Whether you are racing or just supporting a friend or family member while they run, you can take a few minutes to help at the service project table on race day.
