Hi, my name is Carlos and I’m originally from New Jersey, but my wife Kirsten and I spent the last three years in Grove City PA, where I completed my non-traditional undergraduate degree in English. Some other personal facts: I’m of Argentine & Brazilian descent, 1st generation American and college student, and tri-lingual. My wife and I chose to live in this area because I wanted to work for Mars Hill College, I love hiking, and I enjoy mountain biking. Kirsten loves this area because she’s an artist (photographer), and the region’s art community is amazing. Hi, my name is Kristie Vance and I recently joined the admissions department at MHC in October of 2007. I am originally from Newland, NC where I was born and raised. I decided to come to Mars Hill to study in the fall of 2003 and recently graduated in the spring of 2007. I graduated with a B.A. in Foreign Language and had the opportunity to study abroad in Guanajuato, Mexico for a summer during my time at MHC. While at Mars Hill I participated in many service activities as a Baptist Scholar where I made some very important friendships and grew as a person by widening my view of the world. I also worked with Residential Life for two years, first as a Residential Assistant, then as a Residential Director. Mars Hill College has so much to offer! Hi, my name is Jon Marsden and my wife Laura and I are new to the Asheville area. We came here from Colorado where I was a Youth Director at a wonderful church in downtown Colorado Springs and she was a high school teacher. Before that, we both taught at Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida and even before that we worked with Young Life in North Palm Beach. We moved to the area to be near to our family, for my wife to work at TC Roberson, and because I love to mountain bike. I am thrilled to be a new part of the Mars Hill family and enjoy my work here as I am constantly meeting new students to help them think through their College options. If you ever have any questions, or just want to talk, I will always drop whatever I am doing to go mountain biking… Did I say that out loud? What I meant to say is that I love visitors and am always ready to listen and help in any way that I can.

Greetings from the Hill!  My name is Ramla Osman and I joined the Admissions team in August 2007.  I graduated in December 2006 and am very excited to be back at the Hill!  I call Memphis home but Mars Hill is my other home.  While attending Mars Hill, I was a sister of Sigma Alpha Chi (president senior year), Residential Assistant, Inter Greek Council president, Business Honors member, SGA representative, and Phonathon supervisor.  I also did internships my junior year at the Asheville Area Arts Council and my senior year at the Asheville Chamber of Commerce.  I have great memories of my time at the Hill as a student and I hope you get a chance to experience that as well.  I am here to help you through your transition from a high school student to college freshmen.  Come visit us and see if this can become your home away from home.  Talk to you soon!

My name is Jeremy McPherson and I am from Raleigh, NC. At MHC I will be responsible for helping the admissions department reach prospective students and inform them of the many opportunities available to them at Mars Hill. I graduated from Appalachian State University in May 2005 with a BS in Advertising and a minor in Business. While attending college, I enjoyed intramural sports, the variety of University sponsored events and performances, and all of the outdoor activities that Western NC has to offer. It was my love of the outdoors, the regional culture, and college life that brought me back to the NC mountains and eventually to Mars Hill College. The friendly staff and beautiful campus at MHC made me feel right at home.

My experience working at Mars Hill College and being a part of this special community for the past 13 years has been invaluable. The students, faculty and staff are fantastic! I always look forward to welcoming our new students and being a part of their college experience.
