Understanding the Process
Making Mars Hill College an Affordable Reality
Funding your college education is a shared effort between three potential partners: Mars Hill College, Federal and State Governments, and your family. Making college an affordable reality for you and your family is our priority; just keep in mind that college financial aid is a process, and it is important to understand the steps taken and terms used. And remember, we are here to help!
When you are granted acceptance to Mars Hill College, the next step is to make sure you have submitted your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with Mars Hill College designated as a recipient.
Upon receiving your FAFSA, your Mars Hill College personal Financial Aid Counselor will analyze these results and compile a Financial Aid Award Package that you will receive via mail. Your Financial Aid Award Package will provide options available to you to fund your college education, including grants, scholarships, and loans.
Your Education. Your Contribution.
Determining your balance, and finding solutions that work.
Upon receiving your Financial Aid Award Package, you will be able to determine your annual charges and subsequent balance.
Your annual charges will be the total of tuition and fees, housing, and meal plan:
TUITION AND FEES + HOUSING ("room") + MEAL PLAN ("board") = ANNUAL CHARGES
To determine the amount you will owe for the academic year, subtract your total financial aid from your total annual charges:
ANNUAL CHARGES – FINANCIAL AID = BALANCE
Your balance is the portion of your Mars Hill College education for which you and/or your family are responsible. The good news is that many options exist to assist you in covering this balance. For more information, visit the Borrowing and Payment Info sections of our web site, and consider seeking Other Aid like outside scholarships. And as always, contact your personal Financial Aid Counselor with any questions.
