Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program at Mars Hill College is a central feature of the college’s First Year program. It encourages independent learning and the desire to read, think, interpret and express ideas. It is a gentle introduction to what will become a regular part of your academic life at MHC.

The program also builds community. It brings you, our incoming class, to campus with a common experience. This common experience allows us to read, talk about what we read, and broaden our understanding of ourselves and our world. It provides opportunities to learn about differing viewpoints, and to respond with respect to ideas that others bring to the conversation.
