Assistant/Associate Professor of Musical Theatre
The Department of Theatre at Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, North Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Musical Theatre beginning fall semester 2014.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach musical theatre, and other courses as assigned, music direction of department productions, direction of department musicals, help to develop and refine an established NAST accredited curriculum in the BFA Musical Theatre degree program. Directing Showstoppers (performing ensemble required for the BFA Musical Theatre degree). Participation in student advisement, department and university service is required.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should possess the MFA degree in Musical Theatre with three to five years experience as a music director in an accredited university Musical Theatre program and/or a significant record of professional experience beyond the academic arena including staging and choreography. Knowledge of a wide range of singing styles is expected. The capacity to collaborate as a member of a well-established artistic team is vital for success in this position.
