Mission
The Center for Assessment and Research Alliances (CARA) was established in 1995 as an outgrowth of 20 years of community research by Mars Hill College faculty and students.
CARA’s mission is to support and strengthen community and agency capacity for assessment and program evaluation, provide the college students training and experience in data gathering and analysis, and make college expertise and resources available to community groups and agencies.
CARA has conducted assessments and evaluations for substance abuse prevention projects, juvenile justice programs, a depression identification and treatment initiative, farmers markets and organic farming initiatives, Healthy Carolinians county partnerships and school systems.
On the Mars Hill College campus, CARA provides scanning and evaluation services for the Liberal Arts in Action program, courses and grant initiatives.
