1295 students; 1057 are Traditional, 218 are AGS (Adult and Graduate Studies) undergrads, 14 are AGS graduate students, and 6 are ISEP/dual enrolled

 

The 2011 Traditional Student Body:

  • Includes 585 continuing students, 385 new students, 76 transfers, and 11 returning after non-enrollment
  • Includes 588 men (56%) and 469 (44%) women
  • 26% are students of color (19% Black, 4% Hispanic, 1% Asian, and 2% American Indian)
  • 62% are from North Carolina, 34% are from 33 other states, and 4% are from 15 other countries, including Austria, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Ecuador, England, Germany, Greece, Scotland, Serbia, South Africa, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe
  • 28% identify as Baptists
  • 17% hail from Madison, Buncombe, or Yancey counties
  • 42% are first-generation college students (7% are unknown)
  • Between 95% and 98% receive financial aid
  • 38% are participating in athletics
  • The average total ACT score (for those students admitted on the basis of the ACT) is 20; the average total SAT score (for those admitted on the basis of the SAT) is 977
  • The average HS GPA is 3.23
