  • Includes 610 continuing students, 433 new students, 73 transfers, and 17 returning after non-enrollment
  • Includes 639 men (56%) and 494 (44%) women
  • 30% are students of color (22% Black, 3% Hispanic, <1% Asian, 2% American Indian, 3% unknown)
  • 63% are from North Carolina, 34% are from 32 other states, and 3% are from 14 other countries, including Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, England, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Scotland, Senegal, South Africa, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe
  • 28% identify as Baptists
  • 16% hail from Madison, Buncombe, or Yancey counties
  • 34% are first-generation college students (9% are unknown)
  • Between 95% and 98% receive financial aid
  • 39% are participating in athletics
  • The average total ACT score (for those students admitted on the basis of the ACT) is 20; the average total SAT score (for those admitted on the basis of the SAT) is 972
  • The average HS GPA is 3.24
