MHC Homecoming

Author Returns Home

Jim SidesDr. Jim Sides, no stranger to the Asheville area, has authored the recently-published religious novel, Almost Home. Two signings are scheduled. The first will be on Saturday, October 24th, at the Homecoming for Mars Hill College, his alma mater where he graduated in 1965 with a degree in Music Education. The second will be the following day, Sunday, October 25th, from 2:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. at the Asheville Mall Barnes and Noble.

Almost Home falls under the genre of Christian fiction, according to Dr. Sides, and was written over the past year. “However,” he explains, “the book is based on actual events drawn from my career as an Air Force officer, college music teacher, and church musician in at least three churches in this area - Swannanoa First Baptist Church, Hominy Baptist Church in Candler, and Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church in Asheville. In that sense, it’s taken my whole life to write!”book cover

In addition to copies available at the signings, the book may be also be obtained online through the publisher (www.xulonpress.com), Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Borders, and many other booksellers worldwide. More information about the novel is available by googling Almost Home, by Jim Sides.

“At the signings I hope to encounter many old friends, even classmates and other acquaintances,” he says. “In a way 'almost home’ has an added significance!”
